Find your size before you order.

A piece that fits is the difference between a dress you wear once and a dress you keep for a decade. This guide will help you find your size before you order.

We carry sizes 8 through 22, also tagged as S, M, L, XL, 2XL, and 3XL. Both labels appear on every product page, so use whichever number you usually shop in.

How to measure

You'll need a soft measuring tape and your underwear. Clothes layered on top add inches and throw off the measurement.

Bust: Wrap the tape around the fullest part of your bust, level all the way around. Snug but not tight.
Waist: The smallest part of your natural waist, usually about an inch above your belly button. Don't suck in.
Hip: The fullest part of your hips and seat, usually about 7 to 9 inches below your waist.
Inseam: From the inside of the top of your thigh, straight down to your ankle bone. For trousers, this is the length you're looking for.

Trouser inseam

Standard 31 in (79 cm). Petite and tall fits are not currently offered; alterations are a good route if your inseam is far from standard.

How our pieces fit

Dresses & gowns

Most of our dresses are cut to be gently fitted at the bust and waist with room through the hip, designed to skim, not cling. If you prefer a looser fit, size up.

Tops & blouses

Cut to sit close to the body. If you like room at the bust or wear a larger band size, size up.

Trousers & skirts

Sized to the waist with a slight contour through the hip. Standard trouser inseam is 31 in (79 cm); petite and tall fits are not currently available, alterations are a good route if your inseam is far from standard.

Outerwear

Cut slightly relaxed to layer over a dress or blouse without pulling across the bust. If you mostly wear coats over thin layers, you can size down.

Between sizes? Here's the rule.

· Going for a fitted silhouette (bias-cut slip, structured shift, column dress): size up.
· Going for a relaxed silhouette (oversized blouse, A-line, shirt dress): size down.
· Buying outerwear: stay true, or size up if you'll layer.
· Buying a dress for a wedding or formal event (where the cut needs to drape beautifully): size up. Gowns read better with a touch of room than pulled tight.

Care

Each piece has a care label inside; read it first. As a general rule:

· Dry clean or hand wash cold for our gowns, silks, and structured pieces.
· Hand wash cold, lay flat to dry for our cottons and linens.
· Iron on the reverse, on low, with a pressing cloth for delicate fabrics.
· No bleach. No tumble dry.

Treat it well and it will outlast every season.
